The beauty we aimed for is here.
Full-size mirrorless compatible, F / 2.8 large aperture standard zoom lens
Tamron's cutting-edge technology is packed into a small body and newly designed exclusively for mirrorless cameras. The 28-75mm F / 2.8 Di III RXD (Model A036) is a large-diameter standard zoom lens for Sony E-mount compatible with 35mm full-size mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras that has both high resolution and soft bokeh. By luxuriously using special glass material, various aberrations are suppressed and stable resolution performance is demonstrated over the entire zoom range. Achieves both high image quality and compactness and weight reduction. Tamron's original BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating is applied to the lens surface to significantly suppress the occurrence of ghost flare and maintain clear image quality. In addition, the AF drive uses a high-speed, precise stepping motor unit "RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive)" with excellent quietness. In addition to portraits, nature photos, and table photos, you can enjoy new photographic expressions with close-up photography at the wide-angle end that takes advantage of the shortest shooting distance of 0.19m. With a simple drip-proof structure that can be easily taken out even when shooting outdoors and an antifouling coat, this lens with excellent mobility and is active in a wide range of scenes beautifully depicts the world.
The high resolution and soft bokeh make the subject stand out even more.
A soft depiction with a core, a beautiful bokeh, and an excellent resolution of the in-focus area. Both of these are the greatest features of the Model A036. Not only the high resolution, but also the focus surface expresses the softness unique to a large aperture while drawing details with high depiction performance corresponding to the latest high pixel camera with a new design. The beautiful bokeh that gently changes from the focus surface enhances the subject. In addition, the depiction changes when you stop down, and it is designed so that the depiction becomes very sharp when you stop down from full aperture to 2 steps and F / 5.6. In addition to adopting a 9-blade circular aperture mechanism that can express beautiful circular bokeh, please enjoy Tamron's particular depiction, not just the difference in the amount of bokeh due to changes in the F value.
In addition, Model A036 aimed to maximize the potential of full-frame mirrorless cameras. Thinking that "it is compact because it is the most frequently used large-diameter standard zoom lens," we have achieved both high optical performance and compactness and weight reduction of the lens, achieving a mass of 550 g and a length of 117.8 mm. In addition to daily snapshots and commemorative photos, you can take full advantage of the mobility of a full-size mirrorless camera in highly specialized shooting fields such as portraits and landscapes.
Achieves the shortest shooting distance of 0.19m at the wide-angle end
By removing the common sense that the shortest shooting distance of a zoom lens is constant over the entire zoom range, we have achieved a shortest shooting distance of 0.19m and a maximum shooting magnification of 1: 2.9 at a wide angle of 28mm. This allows you to enjoy close-up photography that emphasizes the perspective peculiar to wide-angle lenses, taking advantage of the working distance of only 5.7 cm from the tip of the lens. Also, with a telephoto of 75mm, the shortest shooting distance is 0.39m and the maximum shooting magnification is 1: 4. It is possible to take close-up shots with a greatly blurred background like a macro lens.
Excellent AF performance never misses a chance
The AF drive is equipped with a stepping motor unit "RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive)". RXD is an actuator that can precisely control the rotation angle of the motor, and can directly drive the focus lens without going through the reduction gear. In addition to this, by combining a sensor that detects the lens position with high accuracy, high-speed and precise AF is possible. It is also effective for moving object shooting and movie shooting where the subject keeps moving. It is also excellent in quietness, and you don't have to worry about the lens drive sound when shooting movies.

Tamron has completed its assortment of three F/2.8 large aperture zoom lenses for Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless. The models are the 17-28mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A046) ultra-wide zoom, the 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A036) standard zoom and the 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A056) telephoto zoom. The greatest feature of the series is the excellent portability. Combined, the three lenses are unbelievably light at just 1,780g (62.8 oz), fulfilling the photographer’s dream of being able to easily carry three fast, potent zoom lenses at the same time.
Great things come in compact packages! This lineup includes other lenses that share the same filter diameter of 67mm. Lenses in this series feature small and light designs suitable for pairing with mirrorless cameras, and the filter diameter of each lens is the same 67mm. In addition to providing excellent portability when carrying multiple lenses, costly Polarizers, ND and other filters can be used interchangeably. Plus, the hassle of looking for different-sized lens caps when switching lenses has been eliminated. In addition to outstanding optical quality, you will enjoy the highest level of convenience across the entire lineup.

MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) curves describe to what extent the tested lens can faithfully reproduce contrast of the subject in images it captures.
The closer the 10 lp/mm (line pairs per millimeter) curve (the thick line for low frequency) in an MTF chart to "1" of the vertical axis (the higher up), the higher the contrast reproduction performance of the tested lens will be. The closer the 30 lp/mm curve (the thin line for high frequency) to "1" (the higher up), the higher the resolving power and thus the subjective sharpness of the lens will be.
Lens performance differs depending upon directions. Solid lines show performance in the sagittal (radial) direction while dotted lines indicate performance in the meridional (circumferential) direction. When sharp lenses capable of delivering uniform optical performance over the entire image field are tested, MTF charts show curves plotted in good balance.
Performance characteristics of photographic lenses cannot be expressed with only MTF charts. There are other factors that are expressed in different methods, such as taste of softness and degrees of compensation of various aberrations. But you can use MTF charts as a scale to measure lens performance.
