Landscape, Snapshots, Portraits, Animals, Birds: An All-in-One Zoom Lens for All Kinds of Photography

The main feature of this lens is its broad 16.6x zoom ratio, the world's first1 for an APS-C size mirrorless interchangeable lens when it was released in 2021. It covers a focal length of 18-300mm2, allowing you to take a wide range of photos from wide-angle to super-telephoto. In particular, this all-in-one zoom with its 300mm super-telephoto reach is useful in a wide range of situations, from vast landscapes and everyday snapshots to portraits, as well as animals, birds, sports and kids’ events. In addition, the weight is approximately 620g (21.9oz)3, and the filter diameter is φ67mm— the same as many in our mirrorless lens series. The compact design is ideal for use on trips and hikes.

Best-in-Class Autofocus VXD That’s Fast and Precise, Great for Bird and Animal Photography

The 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 VC lens is a versatile zoom with speed, precision and responsiveness that ranks at the top of the all-in-one zoom lens category, due in part to TAMRON’s VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor focus mechanism. Even at the ultra-telephoto focal length of 300mm, this lens provides comfortable focusing from the minimum distance to infinity. Its focus tracking expertly captures decisive moments when photographing birds, animals, vehicles or other moving subjects. Since the lens group for focusing can be driven directly without the use of gears, the linear motor suppresses drive noise, making it ideal for still photo and video shooting in quiet environments.

Maximum Magnification Ratio Is 1:2, Absolutely Amazing for an All-in-One Zoom Lens

At the 18mm wide end, the lens attains an MOD (Minimum Object Distance) of 0.15m (5.9 in) and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2. With an amazing working distance of 5mm (0.2 in)4, you can get as close as you want to your subject while capturing the background and take a photographic expression unique to wide macro photography.

    1. When shooting with an MOD of 0.15m (5.9 in) at the wide end, the distance between the subject and the front tip of the lens is approximately 5mm (0.2 in). Use precaution so that the front element does not touch the subject when shooting at MOD.

Uncompromising Optical Performance Throughout the Entire Zoom Range

The 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 VC provides superbly high resolution created through TAMRON's persistent pursuit of outstanding image quality. The optical construction includes several special lens elements, specifically four LD (Low Dispersion) and three hybrid aspherical lens elements. These elements help to produce clear, sharp images from the center to the corners. Chromatic aberration and other optical aberrations are well corrected. In addition, the BBAR-G2 (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection Generation 2) Coating suppresses ghosting and flare, which commonly occur in backlit scenes. Throughout the entire zoom range, the 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 VC provides both high image quality and soft creamy bokeh.

TAMRON's Proprietary VC Supports Telephoto and Low-Light Shooting

This lens is equipped with TAMRON's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) mechanism to minimize the effect of camera-shake, which is likely to occur in the telephoto range. It displays its ability to perform when shooting handheld under low-light conditions such as indoor or when shooting at night. It effectively reduces the degradation of image quality. Using AI technologies, the lens will choose the compensation characteristic for videography at focal lengths of 70mm or less.

TAMRON Lens Utility™ Software for Nikon Z and CANON RF mounts

With the Nikon Z and the CANON RF mount versions, you can use the dedicated TAMRON Lens Utility software that was developed in-house by TAMRON5. This application lets you easily update the lens to the latest firmware themselves without going through the camera6. On the firmware information screen, you can check the version of your lens and update it if a newer firmware version is available.

    1. To connect your PC and lens, use the TAMRON Connection Cable (USB Type-A to Type-C/ Model CC-150, or USB Type-C to Type-C/ Model CC-350) sold separately.
    2. As the 18-300mm F3.5-6.3 VC is not equipped with a Focus Set Button, certain functions cannot be customized.

    Unified 67mm Filter Size

Nearly all TAMRON mirrorless lenses have a 67mm filter size. This allows you to use the same filter among a wide range of lenses. PL and ND filters are typically expensive, so sharing saves money. Additionally, this eliminates the need to search for caps with different diameters when switching lenses. All lenses in this series are compact, lightweight and extremely portable, making it easier when carrying multiple lenses at the same time.
